Albert Zakfont
|
Hi. I'm a transplanted Canadian with a degree in modern languages
from the University of Toronto and have degrees in other humanistic
subjects from schools in Europe and the United States. I have
extensive ESL experience and am presently an adjunct instructor at
Brooklyn College, City University of New York. Incidentally, I do
concertize in New York and hopefully many of you may have the
opportunity to hear me perform soon. See you in the concert hall!
(But hopefully in the classroom first.) |

Carl Mccoy |
'm Carl, and I recently moved to New York from San Francisco
Bay Area, where I worked as a full-time piano instructor,
teaching classical and blues based piano to students of all
ages. I'm originally from Albany, New York. I have a Master
Degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins
University, and I love meeting people from all over the
world and learning more about their language and culture.
I've studied Spanish, French, and some Swedish- my cousins
live in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, and I love to
visit them in Sweden. When I'm not teaching, I'm either
reading, playing the piano, or shopping at Ikea. |

David Soler |
David Soler has two Masters from Yale
University and one Master from Columbia University. He has years of
ESL teaching experience from Brooklyn Institute of Business
Technology, ASA Institute College of Advanced Technology, Brooklyn
Chinese-American Association and JBC Language School. With his
specialization in East Asian languages and literature, David is
especially skilled at working with Asian immigrants. He also works
part-time as interpreter for various governmental organizations.

Debra Slaugh

Debra Slaugh (Lorri)Hi! My name is
Lorri Slaugh and I am from New Jersey. After high school I moved to
Utah to go to Brigham Young University. I took time off to live in
Thailand for 18 months. I love reading, laughing, cooking, and
running. Most recently, I traveled to Paris and ran a half marathon
in Connecticut. I look forward to teaching English at Blue Data! |

Ekaterina Arhavskaya |
Hi! My name is Ekaterina Arshavskaya. I have been teaching at
Bluedata for about a month and have met many great people from all
around the world!
I have Masters' degree in Applied Linguistics and will soon be
moving to State College (PA) to pursue PhD in Pennsylvania State
University.
I like learning new things, whatever they may be, and hanging out
with my family, friends and Bluedata ESL students. ;-)'

Hi. My name is Kanad Chakrabarty. I grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University. I recently returned from a seven month trip to Asia where I taught English to school children and Buddhist monks. When I'm not teaching, I like to watch movies, read and ride my bike.

Matthew S. Kremer

Matthew earned his BA in
English from Penn State University and a Masters Degree in English
from Humboldt State University. He plans on beginning his PhD. studies in
at Stony Brook University in 2008. In his spare time, he
enjoys reading, writing, and exploring New York City.

Hi my name is Pablo S. Ko. I am an ESL teacher! I was born in Argentina, but my parents are Korean. I am an immigrant just like you! I came to the U.S when I was 12 and I remember having wonderful ESL teachers in school. I minored in TESOL in college, I have taught English for 2 years to all types of people. I really enjoy learning new cultures and new ideas. My favorite quote it's from a movie. |

Ross Terelle

Ross teaches ESL and TOEFL at Blue Data. He has a Master抯 degree in Education, has studied in Latin America and Europe, and has been involved in teaching for over five years. He has taught English in public and private schools. He likes to run, meet new people, and travel. |

Tahira Muhammad |
My name is Tahira Muhammad. I am originally from New York. I love teaching ESL and international students because, growing up Muslim I was always exposed to people from all over the world. I have friends from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Ghana, Nigeria, Yemen, and many other countries. As a writer I feel that the power of expression is a very unique tool that is common amongst people from all cultures and all walks of life. As an ESL teacher I feel very fulfilled knowing that I am helping others by giving them the courage to learn English as a Second Language so that they can express themselves and feel empowered.

Jelena Djuric |
My name is Jelena Djuric and I come from
Belgrade, Serbia. I graduated from Vienna University, Austria, and I
hold both bachelor and master degree in English language and
literature. I’ve developed
extremely strong communication, writing, teaching and presentation
skills in English. Having had a teaching experience in Belgrade,
Serbia, a number of courses I attended at the English department at
Vienna University, which were dealing with methodological issues of
teaching a foreign language ( Teaching English for specific
purpose), only added to already developed teaching skills. At
the same time, I was also obliged to submit several small-scale
projects that were dealing with various literature and linguistic
issues ( i.e. Controversies
in Applied Linguistics, The
function of repetition in a school discourse etc.
which enabled me
to
develop the ability to deal effectively with written language and
have an excellent command of both formal and informal writing. |

My name is
Samer Ghadry. I am originally from the Washington, D.C. area and my
family comes from Lebanon and Syria. I moved to New York in February
of 2007. I went to Brown University to study Sociology and Music,
and lived in providence, RI for one year after school. I love
cooking and gardening and, of course, playing music with my band and
friends. I also love traveling and meeting new people from all over

Eric Holland. I'm from Boston and have lived in Taiwan and
Japan as well as Honolulu before moving to Brooklyn in
2007. I graduated from Ithaca College in New York State
with Bachelors in TV/Radio and have a Masters in Media Arts
from Emerson College in Boston. I have a cat named Sabbath

Joan Ramirez |
My name is Joan Ramirez. After obtaining Associate and
Bachelor's degrees (Bus. Admin.), I returned to the
corporate world to fill my Marketing portfolio. When the
writing bug bit, I obtained my Master of Science in
Financial, Technical, and Medical writing at Polytechnic
University and paid my journalism dues in all three before
obtaining the role that crowned my corporate career: Manager
of Communications for a multibillion dollar transportation
and global commerce conglomerate. Having served the
corporate world as a marketing and communications specialist
in addition to being a published, award-winning photographer
(photo in New York Historical Society's archival
collection), media presentation trainer, consultant to grade
schools, colleges, and corporations in the nuances of global
entrepreneurship/creative writing/photojournalism in the
States and South Africa, Argentina, Vietnam, and Eastern
Europe, I decided to return to graduate school in Columbia
University for my second Masters in ESL for Adults, which
I'll complete in early 2009. I spent the summer of 2008
teaching conversational English to high school students from
Spain, Russia, Italy, and Poland. |

Hello my name is Ivan Moore.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. I have a Bachelors
Degree in Theatre from City College of New York and a
Masters Degree in TESOL from Adelphi University. I have been
a High School teacher for the past 22 years. I think that
teaching is a great gift but it’s not a gift if you don’t
give it to those that need or want it. I have been lucky to
share it for many years I have taught ESL for eight years to
High school students in Brooklyn and I have spent the last
twelve years as an administrative Dean I am also an actor; I
have worked on stage and in film for the last 15 years. I am
very happy to begin sharing my time with the students of
Bluedata and I hope to I can learn as much from them as they
will from me. |
