Graphic Design (level I)

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this curriculum, the student will obtain the necessary knowledge and skill to perform the daily tasks of an entry-level graphic designer with the Photoshop environment.

Prerequisites

Students must be familiar using the computer.

Outline

Module 1: Setting up a new document, Selection tools, Quick mask, Pixel, Cropping, Zoom tool.

 

                        1. What are Resolution, Pixel, and Environment?

                             A. The Menu: an Overview.

                             B. The Tool Box: an overview. Activate the tools with keyboard short cuts.

                             C. The Palettes: opening, close, customize groups.

    

                        2. Selection tools & techniques

                              A. Marquee: Rectangular, Elliptical, Horizon. & Vertical lines.

                              B. Lasso: freehand, Polygon, and Magnetic.

                              C. Wand.

                              D. Tool Options palette for each of the above tools.

                              E. Select Menu: Grow, Select all, Similar and Modify commands.

                              F. Feather via the Options palette & by Select Feather in menu.

 

                        3. Masking, and drawing with selections

                              A. Quick mask

                              B. Make a complex selection using Quick Mask.

                              C. Change the color of the quick mask

 

                        4. Crop, Move and copy

                             A. Crop tool and its options.
